(Aug 21): A little-known non-governmental organisation wants the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the establishment of the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) by the Selangor government, Bernama reported.

The NGO, called Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin (PMSP), has submitted a memorandum to MACC to investigate DEIG, which it alleged was suspicious.

Bernama reported that apart from DEIG, the memorandum also urged the MACC to investigate the payment made by the Penang government to contractors for project assessment works for the construction of an undersea tunnel connecting Gurney Drive and Bagan Ajam worth RM300 million, which it considered was unreasonable.

Association president Ramesh Rao said PMSP also wanted the MACC to probe the disclosure made by former Selangor mentri besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim during the State Assembly sitting on Monday, over the disappearance of the balance of the water restructuring deal take-over process worth RM7.65 billion.

"PMSP wants the MACC to investigate how the newly-established DEIG could hold and manage assets worth RM30 billion, and whether its establishment was approved by the state assembly and state executive council meeting," he told reporters today.

It was previously reported that Ramesh was behind the videos of former Sarawakian journalist Lester Melanyi's video "confession" regarding the tampering of documents on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

He attracted further controversy when it was revealed that he had been declared a bankrupt by the Insolvency Department, to which he admitted, but said this was proof he was not being paid for his expose. – The Malaysian Insider
