KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 11): Vehicle access via Genting Sempah from Karak Highway to Resorts World Genting (RWG) has been reopened, the latter announced ahead of the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday season next month.

Guests will also be able to access RWG via Batang Kali, RWG said in a statement Tuesday on its website.

Having said that, it encouraged guests to park at Genting Highlands Premium Outlet and use the Awana SkyWay cable car to prevent road congestion and for quicker access to the hilltop.

"Guests travelling by minivan or bus will disembark at Awana SkyCentral and continue their journey to the resort via cable car. Awana SkyWay is operating daily from 7am until 12am," it said.

“Guests travelling by car are advised to be extra cautious and follow the road signs accordingly. Contraflows and diversions may be in place without prior notice. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused,” it added.

On Monday, Maybank Investment Bank Bhd said in a research note that the launch of the RWG's long-awaited Genting SkyWorlds theme park might be in time for CNY.

The research house said, citing channel checks, that RWG — which previously planned to launch Genting SkyWorlds on Dec 20 — had delayed the opening again while it ironed out software issues, with hopes of opening the outdoor theme park by CNY, which falls on Feb 1.

Despite the delayed opening of the outdoor theme park, Maybank IB said RWG's fourth quarter 2021 (4Q21) visitorship was "robust" and comparable to 3Q20's four million, thanks to high vaccination rate, and the easing of new Covid-19 cases and deaths.

RWG is part of Genting Malaysia Bhd's resorts and casino business around the world. GenM shares closed four sen or 1.39% higher at RM2.92 on Tuesday, valuing the group at RM17.34 billion.
