KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29): Affin Bank Bhd said six of its automated teller machines (ATMs) were tampered with, resulting in RM1.27 million stolen from the affected ATMs.

In a statement today, Affin said the ATMs were tampered with last Saturday (Sept 27). The ATMs are located at its Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Taman Molek, Melaka Raya, PJ State and USJ branches.

However, the bank highlighted that customers’ accounts had not been affected by the tampering.

“The bank would like to assure customers that there has been no breach or compromise of customer data.

“Pending the outcome of the police investigation, the bank has immediately put in additional control measures in all ATMs at branches and off-site locations,” said Affin.
