KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The Health Ministry has detected 13 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of total active clusters that are still being monitored by the ministry to 489.

In a statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 10 of the new clusters involved workplaces, while one was within a community, one involved a detention centre and one involved the high-risk groups.

The 10 workplace clusters are:
• Jalan Senai Utama cluster in Kulai, Johor with 131 infections
• Jalan Bursa cluster which spans Petaling and Klang in Selangor (22 infections)
• Jalan Kepong cluster in Kuala Selangor, Selangor (23 infections)
• Jalan Tiga Belas cluster involving Petaling and Kuala Selangor in Selangor (11)
• Jalan Tropicana cluster in Petaling, Selangor (25)
• Jalan Jinjang cluster in Kepong, KL (12)
• Persiaran Mutiara construction site cluster in Timur Laut, Penang (14)
• Jalan Baru cluster which spans Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Utara in Penang (22)
• Guntong Dalam cluster involving Setiu and Besut in Terengganu (43)
• Teknologi Lot Enam cluster which spans Melaka Tengah, Jasin and Alor Gajah in Melaka (24)
 
The remaining clusters are the Jalan Cheras cluster in Hulu Langat Selangor with 24 infections (linked to high-risk groups); the Pengkalan Teras cluster in Besut, Terengganu with 29 infections (linked to community infections), and the Tembok Tapah cluster involving a detention centre in Batang Padang, Perak with 64 infections.

According to Dr Noor Hisham, a total of 996 clusters have been identified in Malaysia, including the 13 new clusters found today. A total of 507 clusters have ended as no new cases were reported from them in 28 days.

Among the newly ended clusters were: the Jalan Sibuga cluster in Sabah, the Taman Tasik Sungai Chua cluster in Selangor, the Jalan Bukit Bendera cluster in Kota Kinabalu, the Lumut Barat cluster in Perak, the Pagar Siput cluster in Johor, the Kampung Renok cluster in Kelantan, the Sungai Redan cluster in Johor and the Bah Manggis cluster which was traced to both Sabah and Selangor.

Malaysia today reported 2,176 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country's cumulative infections to 266,445.
