KUALA LUMPUR (April 12): The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) has recently announced Andrew Lee as its new vice president (VP).

In a statement today, 4As said Lee has served on the 4As council for more than four years.

It said he was the organising chairman of the Putra Brand Awards for the past two years, and will continue to serve in the same capacity this year.

4As said Lee, who is managing director of Havas Worldwide Kuala Lumpur, has been in the advertising industry for almost 30 years.

It said he is also the deputy chairman of the Advertising Standards Advisory (ASA) of Malaysia.

In his new role, Lee looks forward to continuing to promote the values of 4As as well as uplifting creativity, relevance and productivity, it said.

4As president Datuk Johnny Mun said Lee would be integral to meeting the five objectives of 4As working jointly with other Council members.

Lee's ascent to the role comes following the resignation of Irene Wong, who cited her work commitments as the chief executive officer of Grey Group Malaysia as the deciding factor.

Wong has been with the agency since 2004, and will continue to remain as a 4As council member.

The 20-year advertising veteran was elected as VP a year ago.

4As, formed in 1971, encompasses more than 100 home-grown and international member agencies who are key players in Malaysia's advertising industry.

As the voice of the industry, it is dedicated to realising the five pillars of the association, providing industry guidance and leadership, raising standards and professionalism, fostering continuous professional development for the attraction and retention of agency talent, promoting commercial creativity and its effectiveness, and serving as the government's principal information source on advertising matters.
