KUALA LUMPUR (July 6): Turnpike Synergy Sdn Bhd said it had fully paid all certified and verified claims made by Panzana Enterprise Sdn Bhd in relation to works for Package CA4 of the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH).

In a statement today, Turnpike said any payment disputes by the consortium of four sub-contractors, also known as Melima Consortium, should be raised with Panzana, in accordance with the relevant laws of Malaysia.

This is as the four contractors are subcontractors of Panzana.

“In the event that the ‘consortium of four contractors’ [is] electing to pursue any legal proceedings against Turnpike, we have appointed solicitors to represent us in this matter moving forward.

“Turnpike is at all times firmly committed to resolving any contractual issues in accordance with the laws of Malaysia and with the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency,” it said.

It further clarified that Panzana’s appointment by Turnpike as the main contractor for the work package was terminated by the latter on March 29 on various grounds pursuant to the express terms and conditions of the contract between Panzana and Turnpike.

In a statement yesterday, Melima said it stands to lose RM100 million amid a legal dispute between Turnpike and Panzana.

The consortium, which was brought in to “rescue” portions of the project, said it was forced to halt construction work for the package in March this year, despite having used its financial resources to complete 3.6km of the 4km elevated structure.

Melima claimed that it had not been paid for the work done.
