KUALA LUMPUR (March 29): Although MySejahtera’s application management contract is set to expire this Friday (March 31), the Ministry of Health (MoH) is still in the process of determining how the app will be managed in the future, according to its minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

The government’s move to make MySejahtera a digital public health super app is a consideration under its examination of the application’s future management, the health minister said.

MySJ Sdn Bhd is currently managing the Covid-19 outbreak control application under a two-year contract from April 1, 2021 till March 31 this year.

According to Zaliha, the government and the company are in agreement that the ownership of MySejahtera, the application’s modules, data, and right-of-use belong to the government under a perpetual licence.

This licence incurs no costs even if the contract is not extended, or if the government decides to appoint another company to manage the app, she said.

She said the government would be able to include additional modules in the app via the licence for any purpose related to the digitalisation of public health services without restriction.

Zaliha was responding to Wong Chen [PH-Subang], who sought information on MySejahtera’s procurement process, its related costs and the future status of its service contract.

On Feb 27, Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni told the Parliament that MySejahtera would be used as big data with all health-related information used as a guide in determining the country's health direction encompassing budget provision, best health services, and facilitating the people.

“As for the payment (of the procurement cost of MySejahtera), or the amount agreed by the government through the ceiling set by the Ministry of Finance, it is RM160 million,” he had said.
