KUALA LUMPUR (March 22): Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun has been named as Hiap Teck Venture Bhd’s new non-executive chairman, with effect from March 30.

Mohamad Fuzi, 64, succeeds Tan Sri Abd Rahman Mamat, who retired from the steel maker’s board on Dec 16, 2022.

Mohamad Fuzi is also currently the chairman of Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd, Tropicana Corp Bhd and SIAB Holdings Bhd as well as an independent non-executive director of Ancom Nylex Bhd.

He served in the police force for 35 years and retired in May 2019, noted Hiap Teck in its bourse filing.   

Shares in Hiap Teck Venture finished one sen or 3.45% higher at 30 sen on Wednesday (March 22), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM524 million.
