KUALA LUMPUR (March 1): Berjaya Land Bhd has appointed (BLand) Datuk Seri Robin Tan Yeong Ching as the group non-independent non-executive deputy chairman, with immediate effect.

Robin Tan’s appointment follows his resignation as Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp)’s non-independent and non-executive deputy chairman, also effective on March 1.

Apart from BLand, 48-year-old Robin Tan is also an executive chairman of Sports Toto Bhd and director of Atlan Holdings Bhd.

Robin Tan is also the son of the tycoon Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, who is a substantial shareholder of BLand.

In separate filings, BLand also announced it has appointed Tan Peng Lam as the group’s independent non-executive director, after he resigned as BCorp’s independent and non-executive director.

In addition, BLand announced that Syed Ali Shahul Hameed has been redesignated as group chief executive officer, succeeding Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Zin, who has been redesignated as an executive director for the company.

Previously, Syed Ali was the company's executive deputy chairman.

Shares in BLand finished one sen or 3.57% lower at 27 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.35 billion.
