KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 26): The 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) debacle affected unwitting 'characters', two of whom, Xavier and Laura Justo, have written a book to tell their story. Rendezvous with Injustice charts the trauma and pain they suffered after Xavier passed information to the media on PetroSaudi International Ltd's joint-venture dealings with 1MDB. Instead of using the funds they raised for investment, the money went into buying art and diamonds, and to support lavish lifestyles. Billions were also siphoned into personal accounts.

On the cultural front, Borneo Heart in Kuala Lumpur, a series of exhibitions that start this week and run until June, sees Sabahan artist Yee I-Lann and collaborators weaving stories built around the tikar (woven mat) and tamu (weekly market). Other creatives also share their narratives as they create new spaces and ideas through conversations.

How well do you know those who have helped build the country? The 18 essays in Roots Living Heritage focus on historians, academics, lawyers, economists and more, to present intimate and personal accounts of sons and daughters of Malaysia, who set up this nation.
