KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): Boustead Plantations Bhd’s chairman Datuk Ismail Lasim and four other independent non-executive directors have resigned from the board “to pursue other interests”.

The four directors are Mohd Azahar Ibrahim, Datuk Dr Din Adam, Datuk Abdul Ghani Abdul Rashid and Datuk Indera Mustaffar Kamal Ab Hamid, according to the group’s filings with Bursa Malaysia.

Mohd Azahar was only appointed to the board in August last year, while Din Adam was appointed a month later.

With this round of resignations, the plantation group is left with a five-member board, comprising executive director and acting chief executive officer Fahmy Ismail, independent non-executive directors Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Bakar, Tan Sri Aziah Ali, Dr Salihin Abang, and non-independent non-executive director Izaddeen Daud.

Fahmy was named acting CEO after former CEO Zainal Abidin Shariff resigned in November last year.

Shares of Boustead Plantations closed half sen or 0.8% lower at 65.5 sen on Tuesday (Jan 31), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.47 billion.
