Sime Darby Property Bhd’s (Sime Darby Property) 6,500-acre sustainable wellness-oriented township, City of Elmina in Shah Alam, is poised for further growth with its new green features and expanding commercial component, as well as the near-completion of the DASH Highway.

Situated next to a 2,700-acre forest reserve, the RM27 billion gross development value township is popular for its link homes that sell-out phase after phase. Once fully completed, it will have an estimated 150,000 residents living in approximately 36,000 properties. Key highlights include the 300-acre Central Park, 90km cycling and jogging tracks, and 480 acres of local parks.

Adding to the township’s vibrancy will be its first neighbourhood mall — the Elmina Lakeside Mall, which is expected to be completed by early 2024. Facing the majestic 35-acre Urban Park, the retail complex will feature F&B outlets, a grocer, drive-through restaurants and enrichment centres, big box retail units, and event space, among others.

With its biophilic concept, Elmina Lakeside Mall will offer a unique retail experience amid natural surroundings, landscaped boulevards and a lively lakeside promenade

With its biophilic concept, Elmina Lakeside Mall will offer a unique retail experience amid natural surroundings, landscaped boulevards and a lively lakeside promenade. The mall, which is the first development in Elmina City Centre, sits atop a 17-acre plot and will have a net lettable area of 214,000 sq ft.

Another exciting addition is Temu, the first commercial shop office precinct in Elmina East. Slated for completion in the second half of this year, it will have 70 retail lots with large windows, wide walkways and an interesting façade. The commercial centre will also be bicycle-friendly and have ample car park bays.

According to Sime Darby Property, Temu’s anchor tenant will be a local supermarket chain. Its shops will face the main road, Persiaran Atmosfera, which connects Elmina East to Elmina West.

Meanwhile, the E-Boulevard commercial centre located in the mature Denai Alam township has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year. Some of the recognisable brands there include Watsons, Guardian, Family Mart and Mr DIY with trendy cafés such as Jelutong Hills Bakers, A Little Latte and Ohh Bakery. The bustling commercial hub offers a wide range of retail amenities that include convenience marts, clinics, eateries, beauty salons and more.

Improved accessibility

Accessibility to the township will soon be enhanced by the DASH Highway, which is due to be completed by the end of this year. The 20km highway, which has 13 interchanges, connects Puncak Perdana, Shah Alam, to the Penchala Link in Kuala Lumpur. City of Elmina residents can gain access to the highway from the Kampung Melayu Subang Interchange, with driving time to Kota Damansara expected to be shortened to only 10 minutes.

Located along the Guthrie Corridor in Shah Alam, about 20km west of Kuala Lumpur, City of Elmina is currently accessible via the Guthrie Corridor Expressway, the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR).

Educational institutions are also aplenty, with two reputable international schools within 6km, namely the HELP University and International School and REAL Schools Sri Cahaya, Shah Alam. Nearby national schools include SK Bukit Subang, SJK (C) Subang, SMK Bukit Jelutong and the recently completed Sekolah Rendah Agama Denai Alam. A new primary school in Denai Alam will soon be completed and there are plans to introduce an SJK (C) as well as a renowned international school in Elmina West.

Exciting new parks

The 35-acre Urban Park, which will feature lively green spaces interlaced with cascading water features, open plazas, play features, hardscapes and lighting, is slated for completion by early 2024, alongside Elmina Lakeside Mall. The park will definitely be a key attraction for families to enjoy picnics and outdoor recreational activities.

Then there is the upcoming 84-acre Forest Park. A natural extension of the Bukit Cerakah Forest Reserve, the park will feature native trees and family-friendly amenities such as forest boardwalks, fern terraces, observation decks and river bath and camp sites. Already in the park is the new Elmina Rainforest Knowledge Centre (ERKC), a first-of-its-kind initiative to conserve and restore the natural rainforest in an urban setting. The ERKC aims to be a gateway for communities within and beyond City of Elmina to learn about and appreciate the importance of rainforests and their rich biodiversity.
