With state-of-the-art displays and smart functionality, Samsung has ushered in a new era for television

It goes without saying that the television today has grown to become a key component in any household. In the past, the humble TV may have been looked upon as merely a source of entertainment. Today, however, it is a vital tool that can also educate, inform and act as a gateway to the greater world.

When it comes to TV technology and innovation, Samsung has stood at the forefront of the industry. The Korean electronics giant has impressively topped the global TV market for 15 consecutive years.

A significant reason for Samsung’s impressive performance in this sector is the brand’s constant drive for innovation. Catering for the needs of modern consumers, Samsung has consistently provided cutting-edge technologies and premium at-home viewing experiences for its customers.

Its growth in the Virtual Display Business is fuelled by its fast-growing QLED portfolio, its leading position in the ultra large screen segment, along with the introduction and expansion of its Lifestyle TV portfolio. Samsung is also the class-leading brand in the segment, owing to its ability to produce a series of industry, category and product “firsts” for TV that has solidified its position in providing a best-in-class screen and viewing experience.

Ahead Of The Game

This year, Samsung continues to expand its core TV products by incorporating proprietary technology and features across all its TV line-ups. This includes its new Neo QLED line-up, along with its MICRO LED as well as Lifestyle TVs.

For starters, the range of TVs now features a new Infinity One design, which is not only thinner but also features a nearly invisible bezel. The sleek, minimalist design is a perfect fit for any space.

The Attachable Slim One Connect solution has also been redesigned to be completely tucked away in the back of the TV or neatly to the side, to deliver a more seamless design. The Slim Fit Wall Mount ensures the TV is flush with the wall with a minimum gap of 7.5mm, keeping the area free of messy wires.

Neo QLED also takes a huge leap when it comes to TV display technology. Quantum Matrix Technology enables ultra-fine and precise control of the densely packed LEDs to produce true-to-life images by optimising colours and contrasts.

Neo QLED’s ability to deliver 12 bits of contrast levels for the ultimate contrast, along with detailed dimming control and exquisitely precise black levels, results in a more precise and riveting HDR experience.

Unparalleled User Experience

Samsung’s powerful and enhanced Neo Quantum Processor 8K also enhances the TV viewing experience by delivering upscaling capabilities and deep learning algorithms that adapt to your viewing environment.

With its advanced 8K AI upscaling technology, which uses data generated by 16 neural networks, the TV can produce and display detailed 8K-level resolution. This in turn optimises your viewing conditions, improving movies, shows, content and games in real time.

Seamless use for both leisure and business

In addition, Neo QLED 8K also packs in a rich dynamic sound to match the stunning visuals. Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro’s dynamic sound corresponds to the movement of objects on screen, with SpaceFit Sound analysing the installed TV’s physical environment to output enveloping sound tailored specifically to the surrounding space.

Samsung’s 2021 Neo QLED 8K and 4K models offer smart features that expand the role of the TV to meet consumers’ changing needs in fitness, entertainment and the home office. Gamers will appreciate the Super Ultrawide Game View and Game Bar, which delivers rich content at a wide 21:9 aspect ratio as well as an ultrawide 32:9 ratio.

For teleconferencing and working from home, the models fit those tasks perfectly. The “PC on TV” feature on Samsung devices allows consumers to connect a PC to the TV, enabling working and learning from home through the TV screen with a connected mouse, keyboard and PC. With Google Duo, consumers can use their phone to initiate a high-quality, high-speed video call for up to 32 people.

Reflecting Individual Lifestyles

Different visual displays for different occasions

The beauty of Samsung’s new TV offerings is the way they transcend both style and functionality. The brand’s lifestyle TV portfolio complements and even enhances the décor of any home, thanks to its cutting-edge design. Most importantly, it affords the consumer the ability to express themselves in their own space in their own unique way.

The Frame, for example, turns the TV into a piece of elegant art. Measuring just 24.9mm thick — like an actual picture frame — it features new mounting options such as the Slim Fit Wall Mount as well as two other bezel design options. It also provides a range of curated art — available on the Samsung Art Store — for discerning styles and tastes.

Consumers can choose from a growing library of more than 1,400 pieces of art from world-renowned institutions. The AI-based auto-curation technology also recommends artwork based on individual selections.

The solar-powered remote control can be recharged by using either indoor lighting or USB

Along with reimagining what a TV can do, Samsung TVs also cater for a full spectrum of lifestyle needs. Take, for instance The Premiere, which boasts the industry’s first triple laser projector with 4K resolution. Designed for moviegoers who miss the cinematic experience, it has a minimalist design with rounded edges and a fabric finish to fit neatly into any home.

Samsung has also expanded its expertise to every conceivable space inside and outside the home.

The Sero, for example, is optimised for mobile content. The set rotates seamlessly between landscape and portrait to create the right ambience for any space. In addition, the Sero’s 4.1-inch 60-watt speakers enhance the sound quality for a truly immersive experience.

Towards A Sustainable Future

As part of its continued efforts towards sustainability, Samsung has initiated long-term programmes designed to help reduce environmental impact. Its green ambition includes systematically decreasing its overall carbon footprint in TV manufacturing. It is also looking to lower power consumption and use more recycled materials across its entire TV line.

Samsung is also expanding its award-winning “Eco-packaging” design to all 2021 Lifestyle TVs and most of the 2021 Neo QLED line. Based on consumer feedback, sustainable packaging design can upcycle a maximum of 200,000 tons of corrugated boxes each year. By minimising text and graphic imagery on the Eco-packaging, thus eliminating oil-based ink from colour printing traditionally used on TV boxes, waste is further reduced.

Samsung’s Eco-packaging can be reused

One of Samsung’s most ground-breaking innovations for the year is the introduction of the Solar Cell Remote Control. For 2021, all Samsung QLED TVs will come with a solar-powered remote control that can be recharged by using either indoor lighting or USB.

A first-of-its-kind innovation for the brand, the Solar Cell Remote Control will help prevent waste from a projected 99 million AAA batteries over seven years. To construct the remote, Samsung innovated a manufacturing process that upcycles plastics from recyclable bottles — including 24% recycled content.
