PUTRAJAYA (July 2): Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here today to provide his statements on alleged misuse of funds held by a family-run foundation.

Zahid was all smiles when he arrived at the premise at around 9.45am for his 10am appointment. There was no police escort present.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki had over the weekend revealed that Zahid has been summoned by the anti-graft agency today to record his statements under the MACC act (2009) on two separate cases, without elaborating.

It was also speculated by the media that Zahid will also be asked to elaborate on a meeting with a member of Saudi royals in relation to the donation to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

On Saturday, Zahid won the Umno party president post in the party election, beating Rembau MP and former youth and sports minister Khairy Jamaludin, as well as Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

The election marked the first time in 30 years that Umno's first and second leadership posts were open for contest in the party.
