KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 20): YTL Power International posted a net profit of RM243.8 million for the first financial quarter ended Sept 30, 2014 (1QFY15), marginally lower from the RM234.8 million achieved a year ago.

Revenue came in 15.8% lower at RM3.35 billion compared with RM3.98 billion in 1QFY14. Earnings per share, however, was higher at 3.59 sen against 3.32 sen a year ago.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, YTL Power said its power generation division achieved higher revenue due to higher generation of electricity sales.

However, its mobile broadband network division achieved lower revenue of RM148.14 million during the quarter compared with RM217.8 million a year ago.

The division’s pre-tax loss widened to RM77.9 million from RM49.77 million.

YTL Power's share price closed down two sen at RM1.65 sen today, bringing a market capitalisation of RM11.6 billion.
