KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): The Ministry of Youth and Sport (MYS) will cooperate with the National Audit Deparment regarding the punitive warning by the National Audit Department in Auditor General Report 2017 (second series).

In a statement today, MYS said that it will cooperate with the National Audit Department to take the necessary step that has been recommended by the National Audit Department.

According to the Auditor General Report, as many as 2,365 work defects were reported to the National Stadium Bukit Jalil from Nov 2017 until March this year, after the stadium was upgraded to organise the SEA Games and Para Asean 2017.

As at Oct 3, 2018, a total 2,351 work defects on the second and third batch had been registered by the contractors and a total of 1,651 defects had been taken action and verified by the consultant that was hired by the ministry and has been presented for verification.

Meanwhile, on the temporary closure of its KLSC, both the National Audit Department and the ministry has agreed that the facility is in a good condition and a safe environment to organise any events.

"All facilities at KLSC have received Certificate of Completion and Compliance and are safe to use.

"This has been proven on the events such as Temasyar Kuala Lumpur 2017 and The Kuala Lumpur Major 2018," it said adding that recently the the National Bukit Jalil Stadium is being used for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018.

Moving on, the ministry also said that the safety of its KLSC's facilities is the top priority for the public and its clients to use.

"KBS will not compromise towards any parties that fail to obide the safety procedure that has been set.

"This is to ensure the public and the clients can use the facilities provided in safe environment and conduct their activities appropriately," it said.
