KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 22): Penang-based Yen Global Bhd was slapped with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia today on the rise in the company's share price.

The company's shares, which were trading at 86 sen on Aug 1, hit a five-year high of RM1.23 earlier today, a 43% jump in a matter of three weeks.

At 4.49pm, Yen Global is trading at RM1.16, down 1 sen or 0.85%, after 1.4 million shares were done.

In the UMA query, the regulator requested the company to share if there was any rumour, report or corporate development relating to the group's business and affairs that had not been previously announced, that may account for the trading activity, including those in the stage of negotiation/discussion.

The regulator also warned investors to take note of the company's reply, when making their investment decision.

Yen Global is an apparels manufacturer for brands like GA Blue, Edwin and Mustang. It has also diversified its business to include telecommunications.

Green Packet Bhd had, on Aug 3, purchased a 22% stake in Yen Global, which it said was to tap the latter's subsidiary, which is engaged in the Internet of Things (IoT)-related business.
