SHAH ALAM (Feb 13): Yayasan Amal Maaruf Malaysia today clarified that the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has nothing to do with the 'Dana 7 Amanah LHDN' programme which the Yayasan introduced last Monday.

Its president Hamsan Omar said the LHDN was not involved in any way, as the programme was run entirely by the Yayasan.

"However we used the LHDN name and logo at the launch of the programme last Monday after we were given the approval by the LHDN to give a tax waiver to tax payers who contribute to the Yayasan,” he said here.

Hamsan also agreed that the LHDN is an agency that acts on assessments and grants approval to any application from any institution, organisation or fund applying for tax exemption under subsection 44 (6) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

He hoped with this explanation there would be no more confusion among the public.

Yesterday, the LHDN in a statement urged Yayasan Amal Maaruf Malaysia to give an immediate explanation on the programme after the agency denied any involvement in the fund programme.
