(Nov 17): Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen said he made a mistake in naming Deutsche Bank country manager Yusof Annuar Yaacob as one of the five people connected to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) when submitting a parliamentary question.

In his question to Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the PKR lawmaker asked for the whereabouts of Yusof Annuar together with businessman Low Taek Jho, former 1MDB executives Casey Tang and Jasmine Loo, as well as SRC International's managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil.

Wong said he had meant to name SRC director Datuk Suboh Md Yassin instead of Yusof Annuar. The written reply from Zahid did not acknowledge or correct Wong's mistake.

“It's an error on my part. I meant to ask about Suboh,” Wong said later.

Nik Faisal and Suboh are being sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as part of the anti-graft agency probe into SRC, which is the former subsidiary of 1MDB.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said in an interview with The Malaysian Insider that MACC had already questioned Nik Faisal and Suboh.

MACC chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said investigations into SRC International could only be completed at the end of the year if it could get hold of the two directors, whom he said were overseas.

Yusof Annuar was previously Goldman Sachs Malaysia’s chairman and managing director.

The American bank arranged for the sale of RM17.1 billion bonds in two tranches in 2012-2013.

Low, also known as Jho Low, helped set up Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA), the precursor to 1MDB, and has been frequently linked to 1MDB's dealings despite his repeated denials.

Tang and Loo are on Bank Negara Malaysia's wanted list to facilitate investigations into the Exchange Control Act 1953.

Tang is a former executive director of 1MDB and was alleged to have worked with tycoon Low and top executives of PetroSaudi International to get 1MDB to subscribe to US$500 million (RM2.18 billion) of murabaha notes.

Some US$260 million of this money from 1MDB was used by Low to buy UBG Bhd, business paper The Edge Weekly previously reported.

Loo was a former executive director of legal and compliance in UBG. She was on UBG's board at the same time with Low, who was an adviser to UBG.

Nik Faisal, meanwhile, was SRC International's managing director, a company that was formerly a subsidiary of 1MDB.

At one time, he was chief investment officer at 1MDB, as well as being a close associate of Low. – The Malaysian Insider
