KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 19): Wintoni Group Bhd's share price and volume jump in recent days prompted Bursa Malaysia to issue today an unusual market activity (UMA) query to the industrial automation systems provider.

Last week, Wintoni shares soared to close at 21 sen on Friday from 15.5 sen on Thursday.

Between Tuesday and Friday, there were 98.01 million shares traded on the open market. Friday's volume made up the lion's share at 76.6 million.

Friday's figure was substantially higher than Thursday's 12.32 million shares and Wednesday's 9.09 million units.

Today, Wintoni shares settled lower at 20.5 sen at afternoon break after rising 10% to a high of 23 sen. Some 30 million shares changed hands.

At 20.5 sen, Wintoni's market capitalisation stands at RM102.6 million. Wintoni shares had gained 208% this year, outperforming the KLCI's 2.4% decline.

Wintoni had not responded to Bursa's UMA query at the time of writing.
