ROMPIN: PAS has drawn out the hudud card in Rompin, ahead of polling for the parliamentary by-election today, saying that an additional seat in the Dewan Rakyat will help them enforce the Islamic law.

Vice-president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, in his campaign speech in Muadzam Shah, Pahang, on Sunday said a PAS win in Rompin will help its efforts to implement the syariah law.

“Just imagine if your MP (member of parliament) votes in Parliament to implement the law of Allah,” he told a 3,000 strong crowd of PAS supporters.

Former PAS candidate for Rompin Nuridah Mohd Salleh said that an increase in the number of parliamentary seats for the Islamist party is crucial in allowing hudud to be implemented and to strengthen the position of Islamic law in the country.

“We need PAS MPs because we want to strengthen Islamic law in Parliament, to strengthen the position of Islam in Malaysia,” he said on Sunday night at the Himpunan Derita Rakyat 2.0 gathering.

“Our president will table a private member’s bill in Parliament,” she added.

The gathering, organised in conjunction with PAS’ by-election campaign, attracted some 3,000 supporters who gathered before mahgrib prayers and stayed until midnight.

Pasir Mas MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz also reminded supporters to vote for PAS candidate Nazri Ahmad, as the increase in the number of parliamentary seats is important for the party.

“I hope voters will give us their votes, not just in the interest of our constituency, but to send one of our people to Parliament in the interest of Malaysia. — The Malaysian Insider
