DUBAI (Oct 27): The 10th World Islamic Forum (WIEF) is expected to showcase Malaysia’s attractiveness as a business partner, while promoting the country as a tourist destination, according to WIEF Foundation chairman Tun Musa Hitam.

Musa said the international community has begun to recognise the forum, which is held in Dubai this year from Oct 28-30, as an annual Malaysian affair.

“The WIEF this year will bring together around 2,300 [or more] participants from around the world, mainly business people, who will come to know Malaysia, through this forum, as a vibrant and dynamic economy,” Musa told reporters after a media briefing on the forum today.

He added that the forum would not have been a success these past decade without the acceptance of the world business community.

The three-day forum in Dubai, themed ‘Innovative Partnerships for Economic Growth’, will see the coming together of nine heads of state, 14 ministers, four central bank governors, 181 role-players and about 2,000 delegates from over 100 countries.

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be in attendance, along with other prominent Malaysian figures such as International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek, Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, and Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
