(Oct 29): DAP lawmaker Tony Pua today asked why was there a lack of effort by the authorities to track down two top executives of SRC International Sdn Bhd to facilitate investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) subsidiary.

Pua said the duo – managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and director Datuk Suboh Md Yasin – were sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and should have been placed on Interpol’s wanted list.

Both disappeared sometime in July after MACC started probing into the company.

MACC is also looking to record the statement of businessman Low Taek Jho, popularly known as Jho Low.

The trio were sought to assist in the ongoing probe into RM42 million channelled into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s bank accounts.

Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, commenting on the same issue, said it was ridiculous for Pekan MP Najib, in his written reply in Parliament on Oct 21, to say that Nik Faisal and Suboh were preparing to be interviewed by MACC soonest to help in the investigations.

“What sort of preparation that takes more than three months?” asked Teo.

She said it was common for criminal and wrongdoers to flee from an investigation and urged both Nik Faisal and Suboh to come forward if they have nothing to hide.

Teo said she was appalled by the leniency showed by the Ministry of Finance towards the two.

“Najib needs to instruct Nik Faisal and Suboh to testify. If they refuse, revoke their directorship at the very least. Otherwise, it only means that the SRC duo’s failure to cooperate is sanctioned and condoned by Najib.” – The Malaysian Insider
