KUALA LUMPUR: The Weststar Group has not made any bid for Malaysia Airlines Bhd by itself or with a partner, a company official said.

“We have not made any bid on our own or with anyone,” the official said.

He, however, confirmed that Weststar was approached to look at Malaysia Airlines and that it had asked for more details of the national airline but had not received any information yet.

He was responding to an article in The Edge Financial Daily yesterday which said that Weststar had approached Najah Air Sdn Bhd to make a joint bid.

The Weststar official said there had been no discussions with Najah Air.

Najah Air, which is led by former AirAsia Group Bhd chairman Datuk Pahamin Ab Rajab, has said that it is interested to take over the troubled national carrier and has met Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to discuss the matter.
