In conjunction with the 17th anniversary of No Black Tie, NBT Records presents the newest release of drum maestro Mokhtar Samba’s second album. Entitled Racines (meaning roots in French), the album draws inspiration from African rhythms and reinterprets jazz standards of greats such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Michael Brecker. Mokhtar is of Moroccan and Senegalese descent and has been the centre of world music thanks to his talent for fusing African rhythms and modern jazz drumming techniques. The launch concert will be held at No Black Tie this weekend. Tonight’s show will start at 9.30pm and is priced at RM70 inclusive of the show and album and RM50 for the show only.
