Tommy Le Baker

Opened in late 2010, Tommy Le Baker has been going strong for the past five years. Specialising in French style breads, this is a great place to get your baguette fix at. The bakery specialises in pre-fermentation and long fermentation process to create industrial yeast-leavened and sourdough bread. Aside from buying loaves of bread you can also pick up some truly delectable sandwiches here, such as the carved roast beef sandwich which comes with whole grain mustard and cheese. Tommy Le Baker is located at unit B-0-7, Viva Residency, 378 Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. The bakery is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm. Kenny Hills Bakers

This tiny bakery opened earlier this year in the neighbourhood of Bukit Tunku, offering patrons sourdough loaves, ciabatta bread and baguettes. Aside from breads, the bakery also serves great brunch foods — we like their slow-cooked beef and Swiss mushroom pie and their chicken and leek pie. The cold pressed juices are also worth a try, especially the passion fruit with wild honey. Find Kenny Hills Bakers at Taman Tunku 1-1b, off Langgak Tunku, Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur. Yeast Bistronomy

Get a slice of Paris at bistro-boulangerie Yeast Bistronomy this weekend. The place serves rustic country breads such as baguettes as well as delectable pastries like chocolate brioche and almond croissants. Kee Thuan Chye and Mustafa K Anuar will be speaking at The Star Building in George Town, Penang, this Saturday. Mustafa is a fellow and head of Nusantara Studies at the Penang Institute and previously focused his research on the media, human rights and culture. Music. My Life by Evelyn Toh

Enjoy an evening of fine singing with multi-award winning soprano Evelyn Toh tonight. Having gained recognition on the international circuit as a classical singer who excels in Chinese folk songs, Toh is also an experience musical actress who participated in productions such as Marriage of Figaro, Tunku The Musical, Siddharta The Musical, Princess Wen Cheng and The Perfect Circle. Her latest concert at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) will be a personal one, with anecdotes from her own life and career. Hady Afro Konnexion @ Latin Jazz
