KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 11): Volvo Car Malaysia today launched the new Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine premium sedan, the second plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to be assembled locally and exported within the region after the XC90 T8 Twin Engine.

Combining a turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine that powers the front and an electric motor driving the rear axle, the Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine offers a combined output of 407hp and 640Nm of torque.

The Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine, which comes in two variants — Inscription and Inscription Plus, was built at Volvo's manufacturing plant in Shah Alam.

"The S90 T8 Twin Engine was made possible with the company's ongoing US$11 billion transformation plan, including the in-house development of the Scalable Product Architecture platform which underpins all large Volvo models," Volvo Car Malaysia's managing director Lennart Stegland said during the launch today.

At the moment, Volvo Car Malaysia exports its full range of models to five markets namely Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Two more markets — Laos and Cambodia — have been earmarked as potential export markets as well.

The S90 T8 Twin Engine is priced at RM368,888 for the Inscription and RM388,888 for the Inscription Plus.
