KUALA LUMPUR (May 19): Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd aims to surpass last year's sales record of 7,000 units, despite expectations of a softer total industry volume (TIV) in 2016, its managing director Armin Keller said in a Bernama report.

This will be boosted by three new sedan models.

Keller said the German car manufacturer will unveil two more models under the sedan segment later this year.

"Despite the slower TIV projection, we expect to outdo last year's sales, as we focus on the segment priced under RM80,000, which Malaysians can afford," he was quoted by Bernama as saying after launching the company's latest offering, the Volkswagen Vento, today.

Keller also noted that in addition to the Vento and two new models to be launched this year, Volkswagen will also reveal another next year, and all would be locally-assembled at the DRB-Hicom Bhd factory in Pekan, Pahang.
