KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 14): All visa application for visits to Malaysia from February 15 to December 31 this year by Chinese nationals will be exempted from the visa fee, which is about RM30, according to a Bernama report.

The Home Ministry in a statement yesterday said the visa fee waiver would be implemented at all Malaysian embassies abroad which issued visa to Chinese nationals.

"The duration of stay allowed is 30 days and cannot be extended and the conditions for the visa application remain," it said.

This is in tandem with an announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last month on the giving of free visa to tourists from certain countries, including China, to promote MyFest2015.

Visa applications made through one-stop centres which are allowed to operate in some countries are still subject to the service charge imposed by the centre concerned.
