KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 18): United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd will be opening its branches nationwide over the two upcoming weekends in September to provide Covid-19 relief assistance to customers, as the six-month loan moratorium draws to a close.

In a statement today, the bank said this relief assistance programme will be held at all UOB branches on Sept 19, 20, 26 and 27 — except for Kota Baru, Kuala Terengganu and Lebuh Bishop — from 10am to 1pm.

Lebuh Bishop is not included as it is currently closed for renovations. As for th Kota Baru and Kuala Terengganu branches, the relief assistance programme will be conducted on the remaining Fridays and Saturdays of this month instead, namely today, Sept 19, Sept 25 and Sept 26. The sessions will also be from 10am to 1pm.

“We understand that some of our customers may require continued financial assistance after the loan moratorium ends on Sept 30. This is why we are continuing with our COVID-19 Relief Assistance Programme to offer them support beyond the moratorium," said UOB Malaysia chief executive officer Wong Kim Choong.

"For customers who may not be able to visit our branches during normal operation hours on weekdays to enquire about and apply for the additional relief assistance, we are opening our branches during weekends this month to provide them with additional convenience. We continue to support our customers through these difficult times and to help them get back on the road to recovery," Wong added.

Those attending the programme are advised to bring the necessary supporting documents for the bank to expedite their requests.
