PETALING JAYA (July 16): UOA Group has donated RM1.03 million worth of intensive care unit (ICU) equipment to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) in Klang as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

“We decided to donate the ICU equipment after it was brought to our attention that the hospital is in urgent need of medical devices to treat patients amid the critical Covid-19 situation,” said UOA Development Bhd manager (Property) Sam Khoo in a press release.

Ventilators, oxygen tanks and respiratory monitoring devices were handed over to the hospital today.

“It is our hope that the donation will help to ease the burden of the hospital in coping with the surge of Covid-19 cases and ensure that the patients have timely access to life-saving care and treatment,” added Khoo.

HTAR is one of the designated hospitals that is operating at near full capacity and is in critical need of medical supplies to augment its capacity to treat patients suffering from Covid-19.

“As the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise at an alarming rate, we are facing a shortage of critical care equipment at the hospital. We are very grateful for the rapid response and support extended by UOA Group to help sustain our critical efforts in saving lives,” said HTAR deputy director Dr Md Razis Ramli.
