PONTIAN (Nov 16): Barisan Nasional's candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng of MCA has won a landslide victory in the Tanjung Piai Parliamentary by-election.

At 7.58pm, Malaysiakini reported that BN is on track to crush Harapan with a five-figure majority.

Malaysiakini estimated the turnout to be around 75 percent, which translates to 39,739 votes.

With BN's votes at 21,983, they have garnered more than half of the total votes and there is no way Pakatan Harapan can close the gap.

Pakatan Harapan's candidate Karmaine Sardini received 8,659 votes.

Gerakan candidate Wendy Subramaniam received 1,446 votes, Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah (Berjasa) president Datuk Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz received 752 votes and two Independent candidates, Dr Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar received 291 and 26 votes respectively.
