KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 2): Unisem (M) Bhd chairman and group managing director John Chia Sin Tet purchased 650,000 shares in the semiconductor manufacturer on the open market yesterday.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Unisem (fundamental: 1.8; valuation: 1.2) said Chia acquired the shares representing a 0.09% interest at RM1.769 apiece.

With the acquisition, Chia now possesses 173.43 million Unisem shares. These comprise indirect and direct interest of 167.45 million and 5.98 million units respectively.

At 3.39pm, Unisem shares fell one sen or 0.6% to RM1.74 for a market capitalisaton of RM1.28 billion.

The stock saw some seven million shares done.
