KUALA LUMPUR (June 1): UMW Holdings Bhd has today announced a change in its boardroom, after the sudden passing of its president and group chief executive officer Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim, 50, yesterday (May 31) had left the positions vacant in the diversified group.

In separate statements to Bursa Malaysia today, UMW said it is with great sadness that its board announces the sudden passing of Badrul Feisal. UMW said its board, management and staff are greatly saddened by the loss and their thoughts and prayers are with Badrul Feisal's family during this difficult time.

UMW did not specify in the statements, the cause of Badrul Feisal’s death. UMW said today the boardrooom change was effective yesterday.

Today, UMW said: "The board, management and staff of UMW express their deepest condolences to the family of the late Badrul Feisal. Badrul Feisal had served as the president and group CEO of UMW Group since his appointment on Oct 1, 2015. He joined UMW Group as senior general manager at the president & group CEO’s office in December 2010 and was appointed as the acting executive director for the UMW oil & gas division from April 2011 to December 2011."

"Badrul Feisal had an illustrious career with UMW and was instrumental in the success of key value creation projects at various business divisions, particularly successfully making UMW as the first Malaysian company to be a tier-1 aerospace engine component manufacturer to Rolls-Royce plc, as the group (UMW) continues to embark on its ambitious journey of transformation that aims to take the group to new heights.

"Badrul Feisal consistently demonstrated the highest values in business, governance and integrity, and had made an indelible mark on his great service, personal relationship and outstanding stewardship as the PGCEO. The board acknowledges Badrul Feisal’s enormous contributions over his 10 years with the UMW Group,” said UMW, the diversified businesses of which include car dealership, besides heavy, industrial and marine equipment distribution.

At Bursa today, UMW shares were traded unchanged at RM2.09 at 2.46pm, for a market capitalisation of about RM2.44 billion. The stock saw 888,600 shares traded.
