KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 18): UEM Sunrise Bhd has appointed Sufian Abdullah (pictured) to the post of chief executive officer (CEO), which has been left vacant for some four months after the departure of Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib.

In a bourse filing, the group said the appointment of Sufian, 46, would take effect on Feb 2, 2021.

An architect by training, he is currently CEO of KWEST Sdn Bhd — the property development arm of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP). He joined KWEST as head of property development in 2014, before being appointed its CEO in 2017.

He was also Sime Darby Property Bhd’s vice president of product development and land planning from 2013 to 2014, its head of innovation from 2008 to 2013, and before that its head of business development from 2003 to 2007.

Shares in UEM Sunrise finished 1.21% or half a sen higher at 42 sen apiece, valuing it at RM2.13 billion. It saw 2.22 million shares done.
