KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): Uchi Technologies Bhd posted 0.6% higher net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2020 (1QFY2020) of RM16.03 million from RM15.93 million a year ago.

Earnings per share rose slightly to 3.57 sen per share from 3.55 sen.

In a bourse filing, the group announced that its quarterly revenue rose by 1.3% to RM35.55 million from RM35.09 million a year ago due to the appreciation of the ringgit against the greenback.

The group noted that there was no significant change to its revenue in US dollar terms, and the low double-digit revenue in US dollar terms for FY19 was not observed this quarter as customers pulled in orders to mitigate logistics issues caused by COVID-19.

It expects its FY20 revenue to be in the low double digits, a decline from FY19 due to weaker demand for their products caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, it is confident that it will remain profitable and maintain a strong balance sheet.

Uchi shares finished 0.39% or one sen lower at RM2.58, valuing it at some RM1.16 billion.
