KUALA LUMPUR (March 22): The Transport Ministry will continue to engage with Rayani Air Sdn Bhd, until the syariah-compliant airline improves its services.

"We will continuously engaging with Rayani, until they improve their services. We are not satisfied with the company's response so far," said Transport Ministry Secretary General Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim.

"We have given them advice and would like to see a concrete action from them," he told reporters, after launching Malindo Air's Safety Campaign week here today.

Saripuddin also warned that the ministry will take action against the airlines, as and when needed.

He also encouraged customers who feel that Rayani is not providing a good service to lodge their complaints to Malaysian Aviation Commission.

On whether there is any new proposal from airline operators to establish new services here, Saripuddin said the ministry has yet to receive any new application thus far.

"No, we have yet [to] receive any new proposal and we are open to any new application, as there is no limit set," he added.

On the tourist arrival numbers last year, Saripuddin said the ministry expects it to be a good year, as 2015 was "Visit Malaysia Year".

"We saw 27 million [tourists having] visited Malaysia in 2014 and we expect tourist numbers to remain robust [for] last year," he added.
