KUALA LUMPUR (July 29): Glove counters Top Glove Corp Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd and Supermax Corp Bhd retreated at the midday break on profit taking, after the former two had risen to record highs earlier in the day.

At noon break, Top Glove shares were down 62 sen or 2.35% to RM25.78, making it the second top loser on Bursa Malaysia.

The glove maker has a market capitalisation of RM72.66 billion at this price. Around 12.27 million shares were traded.

The counter went up by as much as 1.44% this morning to RM26.96 — a new record high for the glove maker that has been a darling stock since the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hartalega had risen 1.01% to an all-time high of RM20.50 this morning, but stood at RM19.40 by noon break, falling 50 sen or 2.51%.

The company, which saw 10.11 million of its shares traded, has a market capitalisation of RM70.06 billion, and landed fourth on the list of top losers.

Meanwhile, shares of third top loser Supermax fell to a low of RM18.24 before noon break, but pared some of its losses to settle at RM18.44, which is 56 sen or 2.95% lower than its previous closing price.

At this price, the glove maker is valued at RM24.64 billion, and has a trading volume of 21.16 million.
