Tong’s Momentum Portfolio - theedgemalaysia

ON Wednesday, my portfolio inched closer to square one although it is still outperforming the overall market which has fallen sharply since the portfolio started just over three months ago.

Sentiment remained fragile throughout global financial markets, following the recent steep falls on Wall Street.

Investors appear more willing to sell into any signs of strength, further dampening hopes of any sustained  rebound.

My portfolio value declined by 0.53% to RM 101,511, in line with a similar percentage drop in the FBM  KLCI.

Total returns for the portfolio decreased from 2% to 1.5%.

The portfolio started on 8 July 2014 with a capital of RM100,000. Since then, it has still outperformed the FBM KLCI by 7.1%, and has registered an annualised return of 5.5%.

Total profits currently stand at RM 1,511, of which RM 3,200 was realised yesterday.

Among the stocks, Success Transformers Corporation Bhd continued its gain from Tuesday, rising another 1.6%. Prolexus Bhd and Apex Equity Holdings Bhd also both rose by 0.7% yesterday.

The stocks that lost the most momentum were SMPC Corporation Bhd (-10.4%) and Homeritz (-3.3%).

Yesterday, I sold half of my stake in KSL Holdings Bhd, or 2,000 shares at RM 4.04. The investment here has yielded a return of 65.6% compared with my acquisition price of RM 2.44.
