KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 31): Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has executed an access agreement (AA) with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) to subscribe to DNB’s regulated 5G services including, but not limited to, the national 5G wholesale network product.

In a bourse filing on Monday (Oct 31), TM said the AA sets out the terms and conditions for the service, which commenced retrospectively on Oct 7, and shall continue to be in force until the expiry in 10 years on Oct 6, 2032.

It said under the AA, DNB will provide the national 5G wholesale network product, which is a base product on DNB's 5G access network. TM must subscribe to the product in order to gain access to other 5G services offered by DNB.

On the rationale of the AA, the utility company said the signing demonstrates TM’s commitment to long-term value creation for its stakeholders by leveraging 5G technology to deliver best-in-class connectivity, solutions and customer experience.

“5G will accelerate TM’s aim in offering fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) and advanced digital solutions to meet the dynamic and growing needs of communities, enterprises, industry and the nation.

“With approximately 2.9 million fixed broadband subscribers as of the first half of 2022, the provisioning of 5G services will enhance TM’s position as the preferred partner in accelerating the adoption of FMC via 5G and fixed broadband solutions,” it said.

TM said through its comprehensive network infrastructure, innovative products and services, the upskilling and acquisition of technology talent, it is well placed to support the nation’s digital economy aspirations.

It said transactions with DNB for the preceding 12 months amounted to RM64.8 million.
