KUALA LUMPUR (June 6): Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) managing director and group chief executive officer Datuk Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly has resigned from his positions effective immediately.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, TM also announced the appointment of its deputy group chief executive officer, Datuk Bazlan Osman, as the acting group CEO.

TM chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Sulaiman Mahbob expressed his gratitude to Shazalli for his contribution to the TM group during his tenure.

"We would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best for his future endeavours. The leadership bench under the acting group CEO, Datuk Bazlan, will continue the strategic and business imperatives for TM," he said.

Shazalli was Axiata Group Bhd's regional CEO for the Southeast Asia operations, before helming TM since May 1, 2017.

Shares of TM closed up 12 sen or 3.32% at RM3.73 today, with a market capitalisation of RM14.02 billion.
