KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 7): What makes Rado a master of materials? During a whirlwind visit to Malaysia recently, the chief executive officer of Swiss watch company Adrian Bosshard told us all about its approach to metallurgy that defines its DNA as a master of materials, the space-age building blocks that make up its timepieces and how his previous career as a motorcycle racer informs his leadership of the Lengnau-based manufacture. A passionate fan of the brand and of the watch industry in general, this week’s cover personality says, “I feel like I have never worked a day in my life. I have only spent time enjoying myself in an industry that I love.”

Also in watchmaking — we take a look at Swiss Watch’s new brand Reservoir, which boasts French designs with Swiss-powered mechanics, and a peek at Rolex’s A Watch Born to Explore exhibition in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Football fans should look out for contributor Bob Holmes’ report this week — the English Premier League 2022/23 has just begun and football fans all over Malaysia and, indeed, the rest of the world, are rejoicing! In glorious detail, Holmes outlines where each team stands, and we even have some quotes from some prominent Malaysians on their predictions.

Elsewhere in the issue, read about two online second-hand bookstores that have set up physical outlets, what travelling in Wales is like right now, as well as Khalifa Affnan, the first Malaysian to win the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards.
