Three road-safety volunteers injured in Thailand bomb explosion

YALA, Thailand (July 12): A bomb explosion injured three road-safety volunteers on duty in the Benang Sareng mukim in Muang here today, according to the police.

Muang District Police assistant chief, Police Capt Kijsupa Jareuenporn, said the explosion occurred at 7.50 am (8.50am in Malaysia) at a road leading to a school in Kg Berangan.

She said a police investigation revealed that the 10-kg home-made bomb was in a metal box placed by an electric pole and triggered with a walkie-talkie.

“Two motorcycles of the victims were damaged in the explosion,” she said, adding that the volunteers were rushed to the Yala Central Hospital. — Bernama
