KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): Tengku Sulaiman Shah Alhaj, 65, son of the late Sultan of Selangor Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, has been appointed the independent and non executive chairman of Goodway Integrated Industries Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it was revealed that Tengku Sulaiman, 65 had been appointed to the role in the company with immediate effect. Goodway is a manufacturer and distributor of rubber compounds and related products.

Goodway said Tengku started his career with an advertising company called Ogilvy & Mather. He then formed Syarikat Pembinaan Setia Sdn Bhd, which is now known as SP Setia Bhd. In 1997, he relinquished his position in SP Setia.

He was also appointed as the Chief of Ceremony for the State of Selangor by his late father in 1978, which carries the title "Y.A.M. Tengku Panglima DiRaja Selangor. He is also a member of The Council of the Royal Court of Selangor (Dewan DiRaja)

Tengku was also formerly a director of Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd, Samanda Holdings Bhd, MCB Holdings Bhd, SIME UEP Properties Bhd and Bina Goodyear Bhd; he is now currently a director of Baneng Holdings Bhd, said Goodway.

Goodway (fundamental: 0.35; valuation:0.9) shares closed unchanged at 31.5 sen today with a market capitalisation of RM34.81 million.
