KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 28): Tek Seng Holdings Bhd has been issued an unusual market activity query by Bursa Malaysia, on the sudden rise in price and volume of its shares recently.

The Penang-based company, which is a polyvinyl chloride product and photovoltaic solar manufacturer, saw its share price increase by 22.1% in a span of eight trading days, from 86 sen on Dec 14 to RM1.05 on Dec 23.

For its third financial quarter ended Sept 30, 2015 (3QFY15), Tek Seng reported an almost threefold increase in net profit to RM5.04 million from RM1.78 million a year ago on higher sales volume of its solar products.

Revenue for 3QFY15 had also increased by 63.5% to RM99.33 million from RM60.75 million a year ago.

At 12.01pm Tek Seng shares were trading down 3 sen or 2.86% at RM1.02, with 966,000 shares traded and a market capitalisation of RM266.8 million.
