KUALA LUMPUR (March 10): TDM Bhd, which had confirmed one case of coronavirus (Covid-19) at its Taman Desa Medical Centre (TDMC) here five days ago, says the 43 health care workers who have been tested for the virus have all received the all-clear.

In a bourse filing today, TDM said TDMC has resumed full operations since yesterday (March 9).

"TDMC recently tested 43 of its health care workers for Covid-19 and the test came back negative for all. However, for further safeguard six of the health care workers have been in home quarantine.

"The nasopharyngeal tests were done on every primary and secondary contacts that has been in close interactions with the patient infected with the disease. Nevertheless, as precautionary measure a second test will be conducted soon," it added.

The patient, who was admitted to TDMC on Feb 25, was tested positive on March 4. As an immediate measure, the hospital had closed all infected ward rooms and all health care workers, who have been in contact with the patient, had been identified for screening.

"On March 6, a disinfection and decontamination process were done successfully at all patient areas," said TDM.

TDM, via its subsidiary Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd (KMI Healthcare), manages four specialist hospitals namely TDMC, Kelana Jaya Medical Centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Kuantan Medical Centre in Kuantan, Pahang and Kuala Terengganu Specialist Hospital in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.

"KMI Healthcare will continue to follow closely all Covid-19 updates of preventive measures and comply with the Covid-19 management guidelines in Malaysia set by Ministry of Health," it added. 

TDM shares closed up 0.5 sen or 2.7% at 19 sen today, with 7.29 million shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM319.7 million.
