KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd said its non-independent and non-executive chairman Tan Sri Ismee Ismail has stepped down from his role, on the expiry of his tenure today.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Takaful Malaysia said Ismee, 50, has no disagreement with the board of directors.

Ismee, who is currently group managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Lembaga Tabung Haji, was appointed to his current role on Dec 16, 2009.

Prior to that, he was the CEO of ECM Libra Securities Sdn Bhd and a director of ECM Libra Capital Sdn Bhd. He has also served several organisations in various capacities including that of senior general manager of finance at Lembaga Tabung Haji, chief accountant at Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd and general manager of business development at Arab Malaysian Development Bhd.

He has held several finance-related positions at Shell companies of Malaysia.

Ismee is also a director of BIMB Holdings Bhd, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, TH Plantations Bhd and several other companies.

Takaful Malaysia shares closed up 9 sen or 2.41% at RM3.82 today, bringing a market capitalisation of RM3.12 billion.
