KUALA LUMPUR: Taiwan has long been a global innovator in the digital market, and 10 innovative digital solution providers from Taiwan were in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to introduce their products and to look for Malaysian partners to explore the Southeast Asia market together.

At the presentation, Taiwan External Trade Development Council country director in Malaysia Jessie Tseng said in a world that is increasingly digitised and automated it is important for the well-being and sustainability of an economy that the benefits of information systems and learning are well utilised.

As she acknowledged the rapid development of digital technology globally over the past couple of years and the increasing importance of mobile platforms, cloud solution, and digital learning, Tseng said there is no denying that digital learning is here to stay.

Institute for Information Industry (III) senior manager Hsu Yu Sheng, in his presentation on the future development of Taiwanese digital learning and mobile publishing, said digital systems are supporting new ways of collaborating and communicating, and as such these technologies are an essential problem-solving toolset in a knowledge-based society

Hsu said a deep knowledge and understanding of information systems enables students to be creative and discerning decision-makers when they select, use and manage data, information, processes and digital systems to meet needs and shape preferred futures.

III corporate planner Tony Hsieh said digital technologies provide students with practical opportunities to use design thinking and to be innovative developers of digital solutions and knowledge. He said the subject helps students to become innovative creators of digital solutions, effective users of digital systems and critical consumers of information conveyed by digital systems.

Tseng said Malaysia and Taiwan are already close working partners in various segments in the IT services industry, including e-commerce, mobile publishing (Appcross) and digital learning.

Companies and organisations which showcased their innovative technology included III, Over-Paradigm Technology Inc, MAGV Co Ltd, Taiwan Rakuten Ichiban Inc, HYWEB Technology Co Ltd, Media Fun and Hamastar Technology Co Ltd.  For more information, call (03) 8023 8951 or (010) 257 9523, or email: [email protected]
