KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): Lembaga Tabung Haji announced today the exit of its group managing director cum chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah and the deputy CEO Datuk Badlisyah Abdul Ghani, as both have completed their two-year contract services at the pilgrims fund on June 30.

At the same time, two other directors, Tan Sri Badruddin Amiruldin and Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz, have also completed their two-year appointment terms, which also ended on June 30, Tabung Haji said in a statement.

Johan joined Tabung Haji in January 2015 as its deputy MD and CEO. Prior to that, he was the group MD and CEO of BIMB Holdings Bhd, a subsidiary of Tabung Haji, said the pilgrims fund.

Badlisyah was previously CEO of CIMB Group's Islamic Banking Division, before he joined Tabung Haji on July 1, 2016. Badruddin was appointed to Tabung Haji's board on Jan 1, 2005, while Mohamad Aziz joined on Jan 1, 2011.

In the statement, Tabung Haji also recorded its utmost appreciation to the four for their services.

Their departure came following the resignation of Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim as Tabung Haji chairman in May. His contract was supposed to end in July next year.

Former treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah and former attorney-general Tan Sri Haji Mohamed Apandi Ali also vacated their positions as treasury representative and board member in the pilgrims fund on May 14 and June 4, respectively.

Established in 1963 and governed by the Tabung Haji Act 1995, Tabung Haji is a government-owned fund formed to manage Muslim pilgrimages to Mecca and Madinah.

According to Tabung Haji's website, as at 2017, it was managing over RM73 billion worth of funds. With 125 branches nationwide, Tabung Haji said its depositors stood at more than nine million currently.
