MUAR (May 5):: Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Parliamentary seat of Muar Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said that he was disappointed with PAS for snubbing the invitation to have a debate with him and Barisan Nasional incumbent Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim.

The debate, which will be held tomorrow at Muar Traders Hotel here at 8pm, will see him and Razali arguing over which coalition should the people choose to govern Malaysia for the next five years.

While efforts to reach out to PAS' candidate Abdul Aziz Talib through his representatives were made by PH Muar, there was no response from the candidate's representatives.

"Honestly, I am quite disappointed with PAS. At least when we get in touch with Razali's representatives, we get to sit down and discuss when and where should the debate be held, what the format should be, who the moderator should be, and so on.

"But when our representatives went to PAS Muar's office and introduced themselves, they were given the cold shoulder. Calls were not answered, doors were shut and until today, we haven't received any response from them," said Saddiq when met at a ceramah at Parit Yusof in Muar today.

The challenge for Saddiq to debate Razali was suggested by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's president and candidate for the Parliament seat of Pagoh, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a ceramah in Parit Nawi here last Monday.

Saddiq has been a champion debater since his university days, having won Asia's Best Speaker Award at the Asian British Parliamentary Debating Championships three times.
